1865: The CSS Shenandoah surrenders to British authorities at Liverpool.

1950: Advance elements of the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) arrive to join the U.N. forces in Korea. Originally attached to the British 27th Commonwealth Brigade, Canadian ground forces in Korea eventually reached a strength of more than 6,146 and formed the three-battalion 25th Infantry Brigade of the 1st British Commonwealth Division.

1954: US spy plane shot down by Russians over Sea of Japan.
