Office of Rockland County Veteran's Affairs. They sent the word out about new funding in the VA for benefits. I received a Universal Access Veteran's ID card good for any Veteran's clinic, a free eye exam and a free pair of reading glasses.
The Service Officer of the local VFW Post has a wealth of information to help veterans, especially those with medical problems. It's all free and if the information you need is not on hand, he will get it for you. He will also come to your home if you can't get out. Call the Post and ask for his name and phone number. He can really go bat for you.
